1. Compare the two free files
The supplier example has eight columns: Product name, Item code, Retail price, Brand, Parent ID, Size, Colour and Description. Its finished counterpart uses Shopify product columns. Two rows sharing COT-DUV form one duvet-cover product; LIN-CUSH forms a separate cushion-cover product.
Download both files below. The output is generated from this fixed public example using the same preparation rules as the paid tool. It is not a customer export, a free-credit offer or a sample of actual supplier prices.
2. Preserve identifiers and product relationships
Item codes 00101 and 00102 remain distinct SKUs. Treat identifiers as text when editing the supplier sheet so a spreadsheet does not discard their leading zeros. A parent ID groups variants; it is not a substitute for each variant’s SKU.
Map Parent ID explicitly. Similar product names alone are not enough to decide that two rows belong together. Review the size/color combination on every row, and keep different products in different groups.
3. Replace examples with verified supplier data
Work on a copy and remove every fictional row before using a template for your own catalog. Choose your actual retail price and store currency. These sample size labels, dimensions, materials and prices are illustrations, not product facts or sizing standards.
The preparation tool accepts CSV, TSV or semicolon-delimited UTF-8 text up to 500 KiB, 1,000 rows and 100 columns. Export Excel workbooks as CSV UTF-8 first. It requires title and retail-price mappings; it does not calculate a margin, convert currency or infer missing information.
4. Know what the export intentionally leaves out
The output creates draft, unpublished products. It does not import inventory, configure shipping or taxes, connect to your store, or publish a catalog. It supports explicit size and color options; a third option or bundle needs a different workflow.
Shopify accepts current and legacy CSV column names. This tool emits its supported product format; compare the complete downloaded output with Shopify’s official product CSV documentation and review the import preview. Keep overwrite disabled for this new-product workflow.
5. Decide whether you need free checking or paid preparation
Already have a Shopify-format file? Basic checking and formatting fixes are free in your browser. Unfamiliar supplier headings or parent-ID grouping need preparation: sign in, map the file and review the free preview first.
A $9 USD credit unlocks one exact source file, mapping and preparation settings. Unchanged re-downloads use no extra credit while that purchase is valid. The example downloads on this page remain free and do not use your balance.
